Privacy
Shipshape is a program that runs on your Mac. It has no account, no server component, and no analytics. In normal use nothing about you or your files leaves your computer.

What we collect
Nothing. Treemoondus Life LLC operates no server that Shipshape reports to. We do not receive your file names, file contents, folder structure, usage statistics, crash reports, IP address, or email address. There is no account to create and no telemetry to switch off.
What stays on your Mac
Shipshape keeps a working record so it can show your history and undo past runs. It lives in ~/Library/Application Support/Shipshape and never goes anywhere:
- A list of folders you scanned and the changes proposed and applied
- Short text extracts from documents, used to find and classify files
- Your settings, saved folder structures, and your AI key if you provide one
Deleting the app's data folder erases all of it. Uninstalling is dragging the app to the Trash.
The AI features are opt-in, and you supply the key
Organizing, duplicate detection, text search, cleanup and space measurement are entirely on-device and involve no network access at all. Some optional features — summarizing a folder, deeper semantic search, suggesting a structure — work by sending text to Anthropic's Claude API using an API key you provide. When that happens:
- You are shown an estimate of what will be sent, and what it will cost, before anything is sent
- Files matching private patterns are excluded unless you consent for that specific run
- Words you add to the redaction list are stripped out first, every time, including from file names
- Some modes send only file names and never file contents
- Your API key is stored on your Mac and is sent only to Anthropic, to authenticate your own requests
Text sent this way is handled by Anthropic under your API account and their terms — it does not pass through us, and we never see it. If you never enable an AI feature, Shipshape makes no outbound requests with your data.
Your files
Shipshape only reads folders you point it at, and only inside your home folder. It does not scan your whole disk, read your email, or touch system files.
Nothing is ever hard-deleted. Everything it removes is staged and then moved to the macOS Trash, where it stays until you empty it yourself. Every run can be reversed with one click.
Purchases
If you buy a licence, the payment is handled by our payment provider, who receives the billing details necessary to process it. We receive a record that a licence was issued. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Children
Shipshape is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13.
